Senior Application Specialist - Automated Discovery in Configuration Management

Responsibilities:

As an Application Specialist for Automated Discovery in Configuration Management, you will be responsible for the operation and further development of discovery and CMDB solutions. You ensure that IT components are automatically detected, accurately recorded, and mapped within the central Configuration Management System. In this role, you will collaborate closely with IT architects, system administrators, and service management teams.

• Support and further development of applications for the automated detection of IT components (Discovery)
• Operation and maintenance of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
• Integration of discovery processes with existing IT service management tools
• Optimization of data models and assurance of data quality within the CMDB
• Development of scripts (mainly in Python) to extract configuration data from systems and integrate it into the CMDB
• Troubleshooting and fixing of data quality issues within the CMDB and discovery processes
• Consulting internal stakeholders on architecture, data integration, and use of the CMDB
• Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Solid knowledge of datacentre and cloud system architecture
• Experience in administration of Windows and Linux systems
• Strong Python scripting skills, particularly in the context of automation
• Practical experience in data modelling within CMDB systems (e.g., OpenText uCMDB, ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Helix CMDB or similar)
• Analytical thinking and a structured, independent working style
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality solutions.
• Team spirit, strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, and keen interest in new technologies
