Firewall Engineer

As an internationally active IT specialist, we are looking for you as a Firewall Engineer (m/f/d) to join Arvato Systems Romania, with the flexibility to work in a hybrid setting.

We are seeking an experienced Firewall Engineer to join our international Managed Firewall Service team. This position requires advanced technical expertise in firewall management, routing, and security operations across diverse client environments. The successful candidate will support operations within data centers, customer sites, and public cloud platforms, ensuring robust security and seamless operational continuity.

What tasks await you

• Daily management and resolution of Firewall Policy Requests, Service Requests, and Incidents
• Conduct firewall policy cleanups, routing modifications, and troubleshooting
• Manage firewall software updates and patching activities
• Participate and lead small to medium-scale projects related to firewall security and network improvements
• Act as a technical point of contact for clients, internal stakeholders, and external vendors
• Reviewing and prioritizing service requests and incident tickets
• Firewall rule implementations, modifications, and troubleshooting
• Collaborating directly with clients to resolve security incidents efficiently
• Proactively engaging in firewall and network optimization projects
• Documenting procedures and maintaining accurate records in accordance with ITIL standards

Who are we looking for:

• Solid expertise with Juniper SRX and Fortinet Fortigate firewall platforms

• Scripting with Python for automation purposes (or other type of automation tools)

• Comprehensive knowledge of firewall policy management and network routing

• Minimum 2-4 years hands-on experience with Juniper SRX and/or Fortinet Fortigate

• Previous experience working within Managed Service Providers

• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and processes

• Experience using firewall management tools such as Tufin is advantageous

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong team-oriented mindset

• Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Highly reliable, responsible, and committed

• Fluent English (written and verbal), German is a considerable advantage
