Backup Administrator

We are seeking a skilled Backup Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of data and backups across the organization. While the primary focus is on TSM, the role is not limited to it and includes a broader range of backup and recovery responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage TSM server environments, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies across various platforms (Windows, Linux, ESXi).
  • Monitor the health of backup systems, including TSM servers and tape libraries, to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Provide Level 2 & 3 Backup and Recovery support, responding to and resolving complex issues.
  • Collaborate with the TSM Administration team in defining new nodes, backup schedules, and troubleshooting backup and restore issues.
  • Participate in the creation of business recovery plans and develop data backup processes tailored to organizational needs.
  • Offer subject matter expertise for Windows platform backup and recovery, assisting in server down recovery situations.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in backup technologies and TSM updates to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of backup and recovery solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.
  • Document backup procedures and maintain records of backup and recovery activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a TSM & VEEAM Backup Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong technical understanding of various operating systems (Windows, Linux, ESXi) and storage solutions.
  • Experience in tape library management and data restoration.
  • Understanding and working with Shell scripting (KSH, Bash)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant certifications in TSM or backup administration are a plus.
