Position Summary:

Responsible for providing financial analysis for planning processes and reporting for Alliant International University and its Schools, as well as for the Bertelsmann HQ in New York and Germany. Role requires good understanding for higher education function and operations.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be accountable for his or her own functional area, as well as support the development of broad institutional objectives. In this role, the incumbent will work directly and report to the Associate VP of Finance being involved in short and long-term planning, and hence bring their contribution to the overall business strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an international organization and environment covering different finance processes, as well as to gain exposure to working with the international HQ of the institution. The successful candidate will be a key contributor helping the University attain its financial goals.

 

Starting Salary: $85,000 annualized.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent.

Experience:  Minimum two (2) years prior finance experience, preferably in a university setting. Demonstrated competence of financial modeling, cost analysis, budgeting and general accounting principles with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities. Demonstrated understanding of consolidation and financial reporting principles. Experience with developing complex financial models.

•            Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications (especially highly proficient in Excel). Experience with complex, integrated business software systems, Intacct, Workday experience preferred.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

•            Partner with the CFO and Associate VP of Finance, as well as with the Alliant Schools and all other functional departments to analyze and report financial performance. Develop monthly, quarterly and year over year variance reporting and analysis. Prepare monthly decks for senior management discussions.

•            Support the completion of the annual budget including revenue model development using the Workday Adaptive Planning EPM. Act as a point of contact of this software for university stakeholders as they input and analyze their budget and financial performance.

•            Contribute to design, development, and implementation of performance and profitability reporting and drive visibility into financial performance. Contribute to implementation and standardization of key operating processes.

•            Launch KPIs dashboards allowing for measurement of performance in all areas of the organization. Support Associate VP of Finance in launching and operationalizing management reports to senior management for specific areas as assigned and analyzing variances to budget. Ensure accurate and timely data availability as well as insightful and thorough data analytics.

•            Responsible for supporting Associate VP of Finance in managing the business forecasting cycle. Provide support to Associate VP of Finance and senior management regarding budgeting and reporting issues relative to program contribution, overhead allocation, and operating metrics.

•            Inputs to decisions within own discipline and area. Viewed as an expert within own discipline.

•            Provide financial analysis and insight to support additional special projects as needed.

•            Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Internal: Alliant employees. Both faculty and staff.

External: Especially finance representatives of shareholder.

Office Location:  San Diego Hybrid (Remote Possible).

Work environment is in a standard office setting. Frequently exposed to low to moderate noise, various odors, temperature changes, and equipment with moving parts, including but not limited to computers, phones, printers, and other standard office equipment.
