Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Associate Director of Admissions has the primary responsibility of directly managing the Admission Counseling staff, in support of enrollment growth with qualified and capable students, and assisting in all aspects of the admissions and recruitment process. The Associate Director of Admissions will recruit for and administer admissions processes for all Alliant degree programs. This position is responsible for coaching and mentoring staff, managing inquiries, and contacting prospective students.

 

Starting Salary: $80,000 annualized.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:  Three (3) or more years of experience in admissions and/or higher education or closely related professional experience, preferably in graduate or professional education. Supervision experience preferred.

 

Certifications, Licenses, etc.:  None.

 

Skills:

•            Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce or similar customer relations management systems, and experience with integrated business software systems in higher education, including relational databases.

•            Excellent recruitment skills.

•            Strong commitment to customer service with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders including the external community.

•            Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills with the ability to implement and assess effectiveness of admissions plans and programs.

•            Creativity, innovation, and the ability to work collaboratively with key constituencies to implement an admissions and recruitment process, and develop best practices for improvement.

•            Working knowledge of graduate admissions process, recruitment concepts and strategies on relationship development and management.

•            Exceptional supervisory skills to manage workloads and guide decisions about prioritizing multiple demands, for online and campus-based admissions teams.

•            Strong planning and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement short-term plans during staff transitions.

•            Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse background.

•            Proven ability to work effectively as a team player.

•            Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.

•            Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.

•            Ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•            In conjunction with Admissions leadership, assures adequate staffing levels and productivity through effective personnel management. This includes but is not limited to selection and hiring of employees coupled with their being training, developed, motivated, and effectively managed.

•            Assist in the development, maintenance, and execution of the department’s communication and engagement plan to prospective and admitted students.

•            Assist in the development and maintenance of the admissions office’s recruitment and marketing plan with the purpose of promoting the University’s visibility and general recruitment efforts.

•            Develop and implement a referral strategy for the admission’s department.

•            Develop and ensure a quality student experience through student appointment and call observations.

•            Provide accurate new enrollment projections through regular performance reporting and make data driven decisions

•            Manage activities of admissions counselors related to student outreach, recruitment, and admission in support of enrollment growth goals of the university.

•            Travel both regionally and nationally on behalf of the University for recruitment and other related events

•            Develop and maintain close working relationships with transfer institutions and related organizations.

•            Support the Admissions functions at all campuses.

•            May provide counseling and overall customer service to prospective students at all stages in the admissions process via all communication channels including telephony, e-mail, SMS and campus visits as needed to support enrollment and/or the admissions team.

•            Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or directed.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Direct Reports: Admissions Counselors, Senior Admissions Counselors, and International Admissions Counselors.

Indirect Reports: None.

Contact Responsibility:

Internal:  Interacts with supervisor to receive general direction and instructions and/or review of work results.  This position will work closely with colleagues in multiple departments (i.e. Faculty, Program Directors and Deans, etc.) to support both students and colleagues in achieving student success and Department goals.

External: Interacts with prospective and current students to provide guidance and supports. 

 

Primary Work Location, Hours & Travel Requirements:

Office Location: On Campus (San Diego).

Work Hours:  Standard office hours, with occasional need to work evenings/weekends.

Travel:  Occasional travel may be required.

Work environment may be is in a standard office setting, if in the office.  Frequently exposed to low to moderate noise, various odors, temperature changes, and equipment with moving parts, including but not limited to computers, phones, printers, and other standard office equipment.
