Associate Vice President Enrollment Management

Position Summary:

The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management reports to the Chief Operating & Innovation Officer.  The AVP provides strategic, visionary, and overarching leadership for enrollment management, academic advising and campus operations for the Alliant ground campuses. The AVP is directly responsible for the development and implementation of enrollment management and student success initiatives to attract, admit, enroll and retain diverse pools of qualified students. Collaborates with other university divisions to implement standards, policies, and procedures that help achieve institutional student growth and success objectives.  Maintains comprehensive knowledge of university programs, policies, and procedures and applies this knowledge in training staff, maintain standards and resolving student service related matters. 

 

Starting Salary: $125,000 annualized. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Experience: 

•            Five (5) years of experience in student recruitment, retention and student engagement at an accredited institution of higher education, with substantial and progressively greater responsibility for leadership, oversight, and management of student programs and services.

•            Demonstrated successful experience in supervision, budget development and management, and personnel evaluation.

•            Experience working effectively and collegially within a large, complex university system and managing relationships with a wide range of constituencies within an environment of shared governance.

•            Long-range program planning; demonstrated understanding and leadership in issues concerning retention and graduation, and advocacy.

Certifications, Licenses, etc.:  None.

 

Skills:

•            Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as with a CRM tool like Salesforce, Anthology. 

•            Builds a strong data and measurement function that leverages the use of technology.

•            Assures improvement in student satisfaction during the student lifecycle.

•            Provide vision, strategic direction, support and oversight a diverse and geographically spaced team.

•            Collaborates with academic leadership team to enhance student recruitment, retention and engagement.

•            Effectively develop and deliver training programs.

•            Executive and group leadership skills which emphasize collaboration, consensus building, conflict resolution, problem solving, strategic vision and intellectual vitality.

•            Highly effective leadership, communication (oral, written and digital), presentation, and advocacy skills on issues related to student development and success.

•            Possesses excellent customer service skills.

•            Knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with people with diverse sexual orientations, racial, ethnic, cultural, academic, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as those with disabilities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

•            Establishes forecasts and achieves admissions and retention plans.

•            Assists in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies including programs and events targeting specific student segmentations.

•            Creates a vision and executes strategies for student recruitment, retention and engagement. 

•            Responsible for the day to day operations and administrative management of the Admissions Department.  

•            Responsible for conversion rate of student inquiry to enrolled as well as the Admission’s budget, monitoring lead source results, and cost effectiveness.

•            Responsible for regional inquiry generation and database marketing to support admissions goals. 

•            Oversees Campus Operations, Campus Directors and Academic Advisors at all ground campuses.   Responsible for developing strategies to improve retention and the student experience for all students.  

•            Cultivates a climate that promotes innovation and high-quality service to students and community stakeholders.

•            Assures adequate staffing levels and productivity at across all teams through effective personnel management. This includes but is not limited to selection and hiring of employees coupled with them being trained, developed, supported, and effectively managed. This includes all staff receiving regular feedback, observation and support; annual performance reviews; new hire and veteran training; turnover prevention.

•            Establish and maintain productive relationships with Academic Deans and Program Directors.

•            Partners and collaborates with all departments to enrich the student experience.

•            Provides reports as required to Sr. Leadership.

•            Ensures compliance with all federal and state policies and procedures, ethical standards, and compliance with all accreditation requirements.

•            Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Direct Reports:   Regional Campus Directors, Directors and Associate Directors of Admissions. 

Indirect Reports:  Staff in Admissions, Student Services and Campus Operations Department.

Contact Responsibility:

Internal:  Interacts with supervisor to receive direction and instructions and/or review of work results.  This position will work closely with colleagues in multiple department including academics, finance and student affairs.  

External: Interacts with prospective and current students to provide guidance and support.  Interacts with external organizations, academic institutions and community stakeholders.

 

Primary Work Location, Hours & Travel Requirements:

Office Location: Remote.

Work Hours:  Standard office hours, with occasional need to work evenings/weekends.

Travel:  Travel required to multiple locations. 

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work environment is in both a remote and standard office setting.  Frequently exposed to low to moderate noise, various odors, temperature changes, and equipment with moving parts, including but not limited to computers, phones, printers, and other standard office equipment.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform the essential functions including, but not limited to, regular sitting and being mobile; continual communicating both in person and on the telephone; regular keyboarding; regular reading of both print and digital material; and all other activities required to perform essential functions.  May require lifting and transferring of materials (collateral, banner stands, etc.) up to 50 pounds.
