Within the broader CSOE, Teacher Education is continuously searching for subject matter and field experts to join our adjunct faculty team. Our programs thrive with preferred specializations in instructional and foundational practicums, content knowledge and methods, clinical practice, and field experiences, as well as research and assessment Below are the qualifications, duties, responsibilities, and skills that Alliant requires from applicants for an Adjunct professor position:
Starting Salary: $36 (based on experience).
Qualifications:
- Education: A Master’s, Doctoral, or other terminal degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, depending upon the requirements of the course being taught.
- Certifications: Valid credential or License, in the field of teacher education.
- Experience: A minimum of three years relevant experience in the area(s) and/or field(s) of specialization and expertise with preferred positions in the following areas Social Science/Social Studies, Art, Music, Theater, & Physical Education.
Duties and Responsibilities - These responsibilities underscore the comprehensive support and guidance provided to candidates within the program, highlighting the importance of academic instruction and mentorship in fostering their professional growth and success.
- Facilitating an asynchronous online CANVAS classroom.
- Coordination and planning of course curriculum Utilizing rubrics for Assessment and measurement of candidate learning outcomes.
- Mentoring and supporting candidates.
Skills:
- Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- The ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
- The ability to explain complex requirements in clear and concise terms.
- The ability to be flexible with workflow to meet the needs of the department and students and to manage multiple tasks per required deadlines.
- The drive to encourage, direct, hold accountable and guide candidates toward task completion.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and Alliant employees, as well as the Registrar’s Office and various academic departments.
- Culturally competent and able to communicate and interact effectively with diverse people.
- Highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented.
- Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal interactions and to maintain confidentiality.
- Collaboration and partnering with other university stakeholders to support candidate success. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
