We are seeking a skilled SAP Technical Architect to join our SAP Centre of Excellence within our London and Colchester-based Technology division. In this role, you will support business requirements analysis, ensuring technical feasibility and delivering secure, robust, and sustainable technical solutions. You will work closely with our SAP Solution Architect and the wider SAP Centre of Excellence to maintain a consistent end-to-end process and align implemented solutions with our overall architecture.

 

The role

 

Reporting to our Head of SAP Systems, you will play a crucial role in addressing immediate business needs and technical challenges. Your focus will be on SAP systems within the SAP Centre of Excellence, collaborating with various business teams to ensure solutions are robust and supported within our complex application landscape.

This highly collaborative role requires you to align with our Enterprise Architect and SAP Solution Architect on architectural roadmaps, principles, standards, and processes, ensuring that our technical solutions meet strategic and future implementation needs.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Research and understand Penguin’s technical requirements.

  • Collaborate with the SAP Solution Architect to align BAU SAP solutions with future projects in the SAP Roadmap.

  • Review and validate technical solutions for seamless integration with existing and future systems.

  • Ensure BAU SAP implementations are compatible with current and future infrastructure plans.

  • Partner with SAP Functional and Technical teams to develop BAU solutions aligned with strategies and standards.

  • Define and document high-level technical proposals.

  • Analyse technical risks and advise on mitigation strategies.

  • Develop a delivery plan for prioritised BAU requirements with our SAP Solution Architect, Functional Analyst, and Business Analyst.

  • Ensure the technical content, integrity, and quality of BAU solutions, collaborating with our SAP teams.

  • Create high-level models to guide technical solution architecture, including component, data-flow, data, deployment, and integration viewpoints.

  • Define actions to close BAU technical gaps and support business objectives.

  • Participate in reviews of designs and technical deliverables to ensure they meet requirements and standards.

 

What you will bring:

 

Essential criteria:

 

  • Proven experience with new SAP technologies like BTP, CPI, and SAP Build.

  • Experience working in complex and highly integrated application environments.

  • Knowledge of application architecture and design methodologies across multiple platforms.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution, at all levels.

  • Ability to translate technical ideas and designs for various audiences, including Executives.

  • Exposure to multiple SDLC methods.

  • Team player attitude, with proven ability to work effectively within a large, matrix-structured organization.

  • Ability to communicate trade-offs and transactional states with both technical and business teams.

Salary

 

Circa £70,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

 

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important.

 

Hybrid working is our current practise with time spent working from home or in our London office a minimum of 1 day a week. Time required in the office will vary depending on projects and collaborative working sessions, and we are happy to discuss this during the interview process.
