Bertelsmann Global Business Services (GBS) uses innovative digital solutions and develops customer-oriented services in various areas such as accounting, annual financial statements, controlling, reporting, materials management, procurement and invoicing. The offering is modular and includes consulting services, the provision of process and system solutions, and the operational takeover of business processes.

GBS is part of the Corporate division of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA. The Corporate Center assumes numerous tasks in all areas of the Group, such as finance, accounting, legal, human resources and information technology, as well as the strategic communication and further development of the Group.

In 2010, the first Shared Service Center was established in Rheda-Wiedenbrück for the accounting of the German Group companies. In 2015, this location was expanded to become the "Lead" Shared Service Center for the global shared services organization at Bertelsmann. In 2023, the Business Applications division was added from the Corporate Center. GBS services are managed from this location.

The Schwerin location was added in 2015. The team in Schwerin is responsible in particular for accounts payable and travel expense accounting for Bertelsmann companies in Germany and other European countries.

At our site in Westminster, MD USA, Penguin Random House's Accounting teams were integrated into the global Shared Services organization in 2017 as the cornerstone of GBS North America. This location provides Accounting Services for other Group companies in the USA and Canada, and in the future also for Mexico.

Colchester

Essex, United Kingdom

Our newest location is Colchester in England since 2018. This location is the result of the accounting department of Penguin Random House in the UK and has also been integrated into the global shared services organization. The colleagues are responsible for the group companies in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Australia.
