Your Mission
We are seeking a Analytics Engineer to join our data team on a 5-month temporary basis. You will play a key role in developing, creating, and maintaining business-wide, scalable data solutions, focusing on the BMG Rights & Royalties Administration business. This includes compiling, analyzing, providing, and presenting data solutions to a diverse audience, both internally and externally (where applicable) on a routine basis.
What You'll Be Doing

Extract, clean, and transform data across various BMG datasets using SQL and Python for use in key business decisions, reports, and workflow automations.

Develop and maintain data automation solutions to provide workflow enhancements to technical and non-technical business users.

Leverage core BI tools (Looker, Looker Studio) to develop and maintain a growing suite of business reports and dashboards.

Partner with key stakeholders across the business to translate their needs into actionable data analysis tools, metrics, reports, and dashboards.

Communicate data reporting solutions with technical and non-technical stakeholders on a routine basis.

Document and version control code using Git (bitbucket) and Confluence.

Conduct periodic peer code reviews by way of pull requests.

Serve as a US participant in and contributor to BMG’s Global Data Analytics community.
What You Bring
-
Intermediate experience with SQL (PostgreSQL/DB2 flavors preferred).

Scripting experience a plus (Python preferred); Basic knowledge of common data analytics packages in Python such as: pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and/or Streamlit.

Working experience with common BI Reporting Tools (Looker preferred).

Proven experience in the analysis, preparation, and presentation of data.

Familiarity with Git/version control (Bitbucket preferred).

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Power Query, Pivots, and common lookup functions).

Strong written, verbal communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
What Would Be A Plus
-
Experience using the components present in our existing data analytics and product management stack (GCP, dbt, Looker, Git, Airflow, Docker, Jira, Confluence).

Experience with music industry data, particularly Music Publishing (Copyright, Royalties) and recorded rights administration data (Royalty, Sales/Usage).

Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in computer science, data analytics, business, or finance.
