TEMP - Director, Recorded Administration

Your Mission
We are seeking an Director, Recorded Administration to join our Royalty team on a temporary basis from March-July. Your mission is to provide our artists and clients with proper accounting and the highest level of customer service. You will serve as a key contact internally for our labels’ A&R, Finance, and Royalty Services teams for any royalty related inquires or functions. Your approach to the task is creating solutions and solving problems.  

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Set up contract and royalty rate models per contractual royalty provisions. 

  • Review artist/third party contracts and create royalty rate summaries.   

  • Coordinate with recorded finance department to ensure accuracy of costs and other venture obligations. 

  • Calculate and implement royalty adjustments. 

  • Clear sales, product and rate calculation errors. 

  • Research and service inquiries from clients and their teams. 

  • Work closely with other key departments at BMG including legal, finance, creative & processing teams. 

  • Support various ad-hoc projects, report requests, and royalty software testing as required.  

 

What You Bring

  • Previous royalty experience at a music company (label, publisher, DSP, CMO, etc.).

  • Background reading and interpreting contracts, especially related to royalty provisions. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Must demonstrate the ability to utilize intermediate-to-advanced Excel functions, including PivotTables, LOOKUPs, and other analytical functions. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written  

 

What Would Be A Plus

  • Previous Record Maestro/Curve/SR1, SAP, Python, SQL, Looker Experience 
  •  Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Music Business, Accounting or Finance
