As Sr. Director of Data Analytics & Analytics Engineering, you will contribute to this mission by leading a team of Data Analysts and Analytics Engineers in the development, creation, maintenance, and delivery of business-wide, scalable data solutions, with a particular focus on the BMG Rights & Royalties Administration business. This includes compiling, analyzing, providing, and presenting data solutions – ideally self-service – to a diverse audience, both internally and externally (where applicable) on a routine basis to facilitate informed decision-making through novel data insights, compelling storytelling, and advanced data visualization.

 

What You’ll Be Doing.

Leading a team of high performing Data Analysts and Analytics Engineers in order to:

  • Develop scalable self-service reporting solutions and address diverse ad-hoc requests that transform our business.
  • Utilize data visualization to support decision-making, crafting compelling (Looker) dashboards for key business stakeholders.
  • Work with domain experts to develop and deploy business logic onto large and complex raw datasets.
  • Collaborate closely with our global Analytics team and international colleagues to foster a data-driven culture by proposing innovative initiatives and building actionable data products.
  • Interact with developers, data engineers and management to propose new technologies, processes and system improvements, and develop global data governance strategies.
  • Embed value adding technologies, including Gen/Agentic AI into new and existing workflows to enable our business to operate as efficiently as possible.

 

 

Must Haves.

  • Extensive experience in a related role (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field preferred), and proven leadership experience.
  • Experience in building and managing a high performing team of data analysts.
  • Profound experience of SQL based data analysis on large datasets.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python and common data analytics packages, such as: pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and/or Streamlit.
  • Experience managing self-service BI tools for large and diverse customer pools.
  • Proven ability to explore and quickly grasp new technologies, data models, and business processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Impeccable project management skills, enabling the on-time and parallel delivery of high-quality, complex initiatives, ensuring customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

 

Nice-to-Haves.

  • Experience using the components present in our existing data analytics and product management stack (GCP, dbt, Looker, Git, Airflow, Docker, Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with music industry data, particularly Music Publishing (Copyright, Royalties) and recorded rights administration data (Royalty, Sales/Usage).
  • Provable understanding of the benefits of advanced data analysis methodologies such as machine learning, data science or statistics, with strong knowledge of how fundamental data modelling/data product design decisions and documentation approaches can enable the success of these methodologies.
  • Strong advocate for training, implementation, and support of self-service data tools within the business.

Pay Range

$105,000 – $120,000 per annum

The pay range listed above is dependent upon factors such as work experience, qualifications and business needs. In addition to the range above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and applicable benefits.
