Job Title:            Junior Network Engineer

Position Summary  

 

The Junior Network Engineer is responsible for the installation and support of datacenter and campus networks including both Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure. The Junior Network Engineer follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations involving readily identifiable problems. Additionally, this position provides technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology used at the assigned location. The position’s responsibilities require independent analyses, communication and problem solving, and some work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

•    Performs tasks relating to network monitoring, operations, and maintenance.

•    Works with Help Desk and Operations staff as a level 2 and 3 resource for network and core infrastructure issues throughout Global BPS footprint.

•    Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established        standards and guidelines.

   Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems deployed within the local and Global BPS IT environment.

•    Ensures that assets are responsibly maintained, inventoried and/or disposed of properly.

•    Prepare reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals

•    Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent

 

Job Requirements

 

•    Minimum of 2 years of experience operating Cisco NX-OS, IOS-XE, IOS, ASA platforms, and AnyConnect VPN Platforms

•    Minimum of 1 years of experience operating and/or supporting Palo Alto Firewalls

•    1 to 3 years supporting desktops and systems in an enterprise environment

•    Understanding of the following core network services and features: DHCP, DNS, SYSLOG, TACACS+, NTP, NetFlow, SNMP, STP, PVLAN, ether channel, vPC, IP SLA, NAT, VRF, Multiple Context ASA and SIP.

•    Knowledge and/or experience in deployment and support of the following dynamic routing protocols, including Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), with and without route redistribution.

 

Preferred/Desired:

 

•    Familiarity with Cisco ISE.

•    Familiarity with Cisco Switches, Wireless and Security Appliances.

•    Familiarity with Software Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) and Software Defined Access (SD-Access)

•    Familiarity with the integration and support of RSA SecurID Dual Factor Authentication (or equivalent) with Cisco AnyConnect VPN Solution.

•    One or more professional certification(s) desired such as CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A+ Certification, and/or Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.

•    Experience with supporting projects, including business analysis, planning, status reporting, etc.

•    Understands the need for consistently practicing effective teamwork.

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•    Ability to maintain a detail-oriented approach while multitasking in a fast-paced environment, with relatively constant contact with staff and customers.

•    Ability to interact with IT personnel on all levels to resolve issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.

•    Capable of prioritizing and managing assignments, tasks, and projects to completion with minimal supervision.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

 

•    This role generally operates in an office environment in which limited exposure to hazardous working conditions exists.

•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

•    Limited travel is required (20% or less)
