Data Engineering Lead (m/f/d)

To lead our team of highly skilled Data Engineers and DataOps Engineers. The team is responsible for the architecture and implementation of our cloud based Data & Analytics Platform, providing and curating our company data across all units, especially for our Data Analyst, BI Analysts, and Data Scientists.
In this role you will work extensively with data and technology in a variety of tools and methods. You should be analytical and a great communicator and leader. We expect you to be truly interested in data and love to work and wrangle with it. Ultimately, you will build our Riverty "Data Universe" in the cloud to help us make better decisions and become a more data-driven company.
What you are expected to do:
- As a lead of our team of data engineers, who are mainly based in Berlin, Oslo, Verl, and Baden-Baden, you will provide direction to the team to build our Riverty data eco-system.
- You will help build and develop our Cloud Data & Analytics Platform in Azure and migrate and replace a variety of on-prem data stacks.
- You develop your growing team to enable the individual team members to take next steps in their personal and professional development.
- You align with your direct colleagues from Data Science, Data Analysis and BI Reporting, together with the business units (e.g. Buy-now-pay-later) and other functional units (e.g. Risk, Finance, Operations) on strategic priorities and translate those business needs into data solutions.
- You are a contributor to the overall data strategy by driving initiatives to turn the strategy into action.
- You collaborate with our data architects and data practitioners to define our Riverty Common Data Model and to implement our target data architecture.
- You will champion data engineering best practices and design principles in our engineering teams, to ensure the prevention of architectural and technical debt.
- You will setup a state-of-the-art DataOps framework.
What you should bring
- Proven experience in building cloud data platforms in at least one of the three hyperscalers, serving ML use cases, as well as BI reporting and Data Analysis use cases.
- At least 3 years of disciplinary leadership experience in a data engineering function (or equivalent to), ideally in an international environment and in cross-functional agile teams.
- Experience working in a large scale data environment with a high number and variety of data sources.
- Years of hands-on experience in data pipeline development as a data engineer.
- Solid expertise in data architecture and data governance.
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving attitude.
- Hands-on mentality and result-orientation.
- English language is a must, German and Norwegian a plus.
- M.Sc. In computer science, engineering or relevant field.

- Experience with financial industry, especially Debt Collection and Buy-now-pay-later.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure ecosystem (data factory/databricks, synapse, purview, event hub Kafka, Azure DevOps, etc)
- Experience in migrating on-prem data stacks into cloud.
- Experience in setting up a data governance framework.
- Background in ML architectures.
- Experience in Data Analysis or Data Science.
