The Managing Consultant, Clinical Documentation Improvement supports the SaaS organization in delivering value and solutions to clients and prospects. Manage client consultation projects across Relias Solutions and Services with a focus on clinical documentation improvement initiatives. The individual in this role will use extensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and guidelines to improve client outcomes and deliver value in the form of clinical or financial improvement.



  • Using knowledge and experience to support the SaaS organization for renewals, new business, and consulting engagements
  • Coordinating and providing ongoing clinical documentation improvement education and training for colleagues and consultancy engagements
  • Consistently reviewing and updating SaaS organization on new legislation and regulations affecting Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), Case Management (CM) and Utilization Review (UR)
  • Provides primary, expert consultancy for CDI product during implementation and post implementation
  • Managing client consultation projects across Relias Solutions and Services
  • Using expertise to drive business performance in clinical operations, profitability, management, structure and strategy for clients
  • Driving clinical and/or financial outcomes for client and successful management and delivery of project ROI
  • Developing and fostering positive relationships and building rapport with clients
  • Ensuring outstanding communication is maintained with all clients
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Relias Solutions and Services
  • Achieving and maintaining personal and project metrics as developed by management
  • Assisting with training, onboarding, and mentoring consultants, analysts, and project managers



  • Valid Registered Nurse license
  • Master of Science in Nursing, Health Information Management, or related field    
  • One or more of the following credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CDIP, CCDS
  • 8+ years of experience in a hospital/acute setting
  • 5+ years of experience acting in an advisory capacity within a health system with recent experience in revenue cycle, CDI, UR, or related field
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of clinical documentation, medical necessity guidelines, and application of CDI and standards 
  • Established technical knowledge and comprehensive understanding of ICD-9 and ICD-10, MS and APR DRG assignments, payment methodologies and quality programs
  • Demonstrated recent experience working with HIM software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management skills, ability to prioritize, superior judgment, and independent decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a metrics-driven, process-based environment with high accountability
  • Knowledge and familiarity with HIPAA policy and experience working with PHI
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to drive projects to completion, and anticipate challenges and trends
