Cloud Infrastructure Architect

<span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Penguin Random House is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Architect to join our team. This person will utilize their expertise in cloud operations working as part of a team responsible for ongoing optimization and governance of cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will help shape and direct the technology roadmap for Penguin Random House Cloud Migration and Native Cloud Development projects.

<span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Basic Qualifications


  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">BS degree or equivalent experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">5+ or more years of IT implementation experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Experience with cloud migration strategies and cloud applications
  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Comfortable driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Hands-on experience with the design, development, and deployment of infrastructure at scale
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Knowledge of automated code deployment workflows within cloud architectures
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Scripting and/or coding skills

  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Ability to lead highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Large scale migration experience Data Center to Data Center and/or Data Center to Cloud
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Integration of cloud services with on premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Dell/EMC, SAP etc.
  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Powershell)
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Configuration management using Cloud Formation, Salt Stack
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Experience managing data center operations, including monitoring, alerting and notifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • <span style="font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
