Senior Marketing Manager - (Hybrid)

The Crown Publishing Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Marketing Manager to join the Crown and Crown Currency imprints. This is an exciting opportunity to work on bestselling, critically acclaimed non-fiction and fiction in the current affairs, social justice, politics, history, self-improvement, business, and literary and commercial fiction categories. Crown publishes such notable authors as President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Rachel Maddow, Erik Larson, Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Timothy Snyder, Matthew Desmond, Alex Karp, Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, Liane Moriarty, Chris Whitaker, and Virginia Evans.  

The ideal candidate brings proven experience developing and executing impactful marketing campaigns for both nonfiction and fiction that drive discovery and sales. This role is well suited for a digital native with a strong interest in current events and a passion for creating compelling content and promotions that resonate both online and offline. 

This is a critical position within a fast-paced team, offering the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues across Marketing as well as cross-functionally with Publicity, Editorial, Sales, and Design. The role is ideal for a solutions-oriented, innovative thinker who communicates clearly and persuasively, and can successfully manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. This position reports to the VP, Director of Marketing. 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Develops and executes creative, data-driven, results-oriented marketing campaigns for frontlist titles, backlist priorities, long-term initiatives, and trade paperback conversions; this includes identifying possible readerships, maximizing exposure for our authors, and brainstorming ideas for engaging readers to drive discovery, as well as creating cross-promotions with external partners and social media communities 
  • Collaborates with authors to develop and amplify cross-channel content, including creating and sharing assets for Crown’s social media platforms and consumer email program 
  • Leads targeted title outreach to key audiences, building relationships with social media influencers, organizations, book clubs, and potential partners to drive sales 
  • Applies core marketing principles—including consumer insights, social media marketing, and email marketing—with a strong interest in hands-on content creation (e.g., short-form video, graphics, and other digital assets) 
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Canva, as well as editing/creating video, and use of related design, video, and influencer tracking tools are a plus  
  • Brings a growth mindset and a creative, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving within a dynamic publishing environment 
  • Participates in and contributes marketing perspective at key internal and external meetings with editors, sales, authors, and agents 
  • High-touch author care and attentive communication with authors and agents 
  • Identifies opportunities for enhancing and improving both imprint campaigns and departmental best practices--new tools, platforms, partners, trends, etc.

  • 6-8 years of relevant marketing experience, in publishing or a related field 
  • Experience working with sensitive material and high-profile authors 
  • Expertise presenting in meetings 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while also responding to urgent issues 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative setting 
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines 
  • A motivated self-starter, strategic thinker and team player 

The position of Senior Marketing Manager, Crown and Crown Currency is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA). 

The salary for this position is $79,500-85,000.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
