The Penguin Random House Travel department seeks a Travel Agent to fulfill employees’ Corporate Travel-related requests for airline ticketing arrangements, hotel accommodations and car rentals. The Travel Agent will provide excellent customer service by communicating and demonstrating knowledge of travel options and information.

Responsibilities include:
- Booking reservations for air travel, hotel and car rentals, and following up as needed to complete these reservations.
- Responding to requests for price quotations utilizing automated system(s) for both domestic and international itineraries.
- Promoting the acceptance of fares, rates, and suppliers that match the company’s travel program policies and negotiated contracts, and applying discount programs appropriately.
- Keeping informed of all airline rules and regulations and current affairs, and communicating this information to respective clients.
- Monitoring and sorting distribution systems queues daily to maintain quality control.


The ideal candidate will:


- Be self-directed, organized, and able to multi-task on competing deadlines and queries.

- Exhibit a strong customer service-oriented demeanor.

- Have 5 - 7 years of travel-related experience and have demonstrated sound knowledge of current travel rules and ticketing procedures.

- Be proficient in native SABRE GDS.
