Senior Publicist – Random House

Random House is looking for a Senior Publicist who will report to a director and work across the RH imprints with a focus on fiction and literary non-fiction. Open to people with a diverse publicity background with roots in books and literature. Knowledge of book publishing a bonus, but not necessary.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Executing all aspects of a publicity campaign, including managing author tours, booking national and local media, overseeing travel arrangements, and producing events.
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships with members of the press (broadcast, radio, print, online, trades, etc.) and seeking out new media outlets.
  • Working closely with authors on all aspects of publicity, including briefing authors for interviews and accompanying authors to publicity engagements.
  • Brainstorming creative ideas on how to best publicize titles.
  • Strategizing media lists, creating press materials, and pitching media.
  • Collaborating with key in-house departments, including Marketing, Sales, Editorial, and Subsidiary Rights.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with bookseller contacts.
  • Supervising and providing guidance to one direct report.



Please apply if you meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in book (or related media) publicity
  • Strong knowledge of national and regional media (electronic and print)
  • Strong experience with fiction and debut fiction
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the media, marketplace and competition
  • Established relationships with bookstores and some large lecture venues
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms
