Senior Marketing Manager, Digital Content

Random House Children's Books Marketing department is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager, Digital Content to join the digital marketing team to work on our Brand, Licensing, franchise, and celebrity titles such as but not limited to: Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss, Disney, Little Golden Books, Sesame Street, DC Icons, Underlined, John Cena, Danica McKellar, Dan Brown, and more. The Senior Manager will focus on overseeing marketing campaigns targeting both Parents and Teen/Adult crossover audiences through managing content for RHCB consumer facing brand websites, email newsletters, and social media platforms, with the goal of awareness, engagement and conversion of those audiences. This role will develop a forward-thinking content strategy focusing on the entire reader footprint and consumer purchase journey to reach Parents and Teen consumers; and will partner closely with the Brand Marketing and Publicity Departments to plan and execute campaigns. This role will also oversee the professional development and projects of an Associate Marketing Manager who works on the development and day-to-day of Brand title social media campaigns, and the planning and execution of social media content and campaigns for RHCB social platforms. The Senior Manager will report to the Director, Digital Strategy.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with digital marketing team and design teams as well as outside agency partners on improving website functionality and user experience as well as creating creative and innovative campaigns
  • Oversee content production across several internal websites including managing content calendars, freelance writers, and CMS according to SEO best practices
  • Act as brand expert for digital marketing team, staying abreast of trends and report on the competitive landscape in the publishing industry and broader digital world
  • Manage relationships between internal teams and external partners, ensuring up-to-date information is communicated, and reporting on campaign performance and recommendations to team and key stakeholders
  • Compile, analyze and summarize traffic and website performance and recommend any necessary changes to improve site, feature, or campaign performance
  • Oversee the creation and execution of data-driven marketing campaigns for titles and brands with a particular focus on the target audience and the end consumer.
  • Align digital marketing strategy with marketing team goals, based on consumer insights, audience segments, campaign objectives, market trends, and within determined budget
  • Working closely with Associate Marketing Manager, oversee the execution of the content calendar and strategy for various social media platforms incorporating title-specific assets, thematic content, and author and publishing news, while keeping in mind the current trends and news cycle and ensuring consistent branding and voice across all platforms
  • Oversee the production and execution of social media assets tailored to specific books, campaigns, and audiences, approving designed images as needed
  • Manage and keep track of title by title marketing budgets, updating campaign information in real time
  • Oversee and manage paid campaigns including influencer marketing strategy for titles and brands, and social media advertising including writing copy, overseeing creative direction, and analyzing key performance metrics working closely with team and outside media agency
  • Create targeted and personalized email campaigns including writing copy and overseeing creative direction

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of experience in digital marketing, social media, or relevant field
  • Expertise with leveraging best practices and channeling knowledge that drives results for content
  • Experience and understanding of website analytics and reporting
  • Deep understanding of major established and emerging social media platforms and management tools
  • Solid understanding of social media metrics including Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, and social listening including familiarity with both native social scheduling tools and paid publishing tools
  • Strong writing skills and ability to adapt to brand’s tone of voice
  • Ability to multi-task various assignments, prioritize workload, and take responsibility for deadlines
  • Familiar with common CMS systems, including but not limited to: WordPress, Google and Adobe Analytics, email marketing software
  • Has basic understanding of SEO and SEM and best practices
  • People Management experience
  • UX and UI experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the reading community and passion for books is a plus
