Senior Financial Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Random House Finance department is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. Overall responsibilities for this role include monthly reporting and analysis, forecasting, and performing ad-hoc financial analysis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monthly Reporting
      • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and discuss findings with the rest of the division’s finance team and publishers
      • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans
      • Support the monthly financial close process through variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year and other close tasks as necessary
    • Budgeting
      • Assist in the development of the annual budget and rolling forecast for Random House Publishing Group imprints
      • Liaise with business partners to understand Budget drivers and inform forward looking projections
    • Publishing Support
      • Acquisition, Pricing, and Post-publication P&Ls
      • Compile author histories
  • Support the Finance Director & VP of Business Strategy with ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

 

  • Advanced MS Excel skills are mandatory for this role. Must be able to easily manipulate large volumes of data and use advanced formulas such as lookups/index/match/pivot tables etc.
  • 3+ years of business experience in a finance/accounting role, or related analytical role
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate results with management and directors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Business Objects and Power BI a plus
