Senior Communications and Brand Manager, Inklore (Open to remote)
The Random House Publishing Group is seeking an experienced and creative Senior Communications and Brand Manager to join the Inklore team.
Reporting to the VP, Senior Director of Publicity and Marketing at Random House Worlds, this is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative department as the representative of a new imprint dedicated to publishing the best in manga, manhua, manhwa, webcomics adaptations, and light novels for the English-language market. Some of the internationally recognized brands we publish include Lore Olympus, Under the Oak Tree, My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999, and Cherry Blossoms After Winter.
In this role, the Senior Communications and Brand Manager will oversee title marketing and publicity campaigns along with ongoing growth initiatives for the imprint, including media outreach for review and feature coverage, online promotions, consumer convention planning, influencer outreach, social media, advertising, brand and platform development, and overall creative strategy.
The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing comics, graphic novel and/or manga marketing and PR campaigns, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. As the primary marketing and publicity representative to Inklore’s licensors and creators, experience building strong relationships with outside partners, authors, agents, and others in graphic novel and/or manga publishing across the globe is essential.
We are looking for a seasoned communications professional and a passionate reader, with a genuine interest in manga/manhua, comics, and graphic novels. The candidate will also understand the latest marketing technology, have sharp analytical skills, exceptional communication skills, design skills, and the ability to collaborate well with a broad group of stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Executes consumer outreach, preorder campaigns, influencer marketing, advertising, and overall creative strategy for Inklore titles.
- Manages multiple title marketing and publicity projects across genres with varying timelines while simultaneously building relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Serves as the primary publicity contact for the Inklore imprint, liaising with journalists and pitching media to secure feature and review coverage of new titles/acquisitions, ongoing series, and the Inklore brand at large.
- Oversees and grows the Inklore social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, X, and Reddit by brainstorming and creating content in collaboration with the publishing team, securing partnership collaborations, activations with licensors and endemic brands, sweepstakes and giveaways, facilitating creator AMAs / Q&As, etc.
- Oversees the newly created influencer/ambassador program by leading outreach and communication and brainstorming new ways to onboard new influencers into the program.
- Creates and routes campaign assets and materials.
- Works closely with the UK/international publishing and sales teams to ensure a unified global strategy in terms of specific titles’ promotional beats and CTAs across author/brand channels and Inklore social media.
- Manages Inklore's convention appearances at shows like AnimeExpo and Comic Con, coordinating logistics, approvals, promotional activations, and brand strategy to maximize imprint awareness and attendee engagement.
- Leads business and campaign update calls with licensors as needed to keep all stakeholders updated and informed on current and proposed campaigns, proactively managing and maintaining key business relationships.
- Manages the Inklore marketing and publicity budget, strategizing spend on a title-by-title basis as well as across the imprint as a whole, reallocating as needed, to keep budget balanced and effective as books go-to-market.

- At least 5 years of relevant experience in comics, manga, or graphic novel book marketing and/or publicity
- Highly organized with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience and comfort presenting in front of large groups at internal and external meetings
- Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in using social media platforms as a marketing tool, with fluency in Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok platforms
- Has existing relationships with national and regional media contacts, notably in the comics, graphic novel, and manga spaces
- Proven track record creating marketing campaigns that reach and engage diverse audiences
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
- A motivated self-starter, strategic thinker and team player
- Ability to remain motivated and task-oriented in a flexible schedule that requires client calls across multiple time zones
- A passion for: fandom, reading, initiative, innovation, collaboration, and curiosity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as ability to design assets in Adobe or Canva
- Proficiency with Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin languages a plus
The salary range for this position is $79,500 - $85,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
