Sales Associate, Premium Literacy Sales

 

The Premium Literacy sales channel sells children’s books to nationally recognized mission-driven literacy organizations such as First Book and Scholastic. The Sales Associate position combines account-facing responsibilities along with sales and administrative support to the Premium Literacy channel within Special Markets. Responsibilities:

  1. Takes on primary sales responsibility for select national and local literacy focused non-profit organizations.
  2. Specific sales support (with a project management focus) for nationally recognized key organizations in the channel, including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
  3. This role has selling responsibilities across Penguin Random House’s core publishing lists as well as distribution client publishing lists.
  4. Direct customer interaction includes vetting new customers along with following up on order queries and sales leads.
  5. Researching and building sales deal P&Ls
  6. Curating and maintaining title lists to meet ad-hoc needs for accounts and new business opportunities; creating sell-sheets, titles grids, and digital email blasts using various digital tools.
  7. Collaborating across multiple departments including Publishing Offices, Inventory Management, Production, Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Credit.
  8. Preparing for meetings and presentations, including creating PowerPoint decks, gathering materials (digital & physical), generating Edelweiss catalogs, and more.
  9. Attending and presenting at key account meetings (travel may be required).

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of sales experience, including direct communication with or in support of accounts
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • PC proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word)
  • Interest in the publishing industry and in sales
  • Interest in children’s books
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Salesforce or similar database software experienced preferred
