Sales Assistant, Random House Publishing Group

 

The Sales Assistant provides administrative and sales support for two Imprint Sales Directors who are responsible for driving revenue for multiple Random House imprints. The title mix across imprints include cookbook & lifestyle, best-selling narrative nonfiction and faith-based titles. Specific imprints include Clarkson Potter, Ten Speed Press, Crown, and Waterbrook & Multnomah, among others.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as primary contact between publishing and sales teams to ensure proper flow of communication.
  2. Provides regular sales reporting and analysis using internal tools to disseminate trends; evaluate competitive landscape and identify changes in market share.
  3. Prepare and disseminate information to appropriate sales reps including book covers, assets, and physical samples.
  4. Coordinates meeting schedules with sales and publishing teams to ensure all necessary materials are distributed in advance of such meetings.
  5. Attends and participates in department meetings.
  6. Provides support for Imprint Sales Directors on various sales-related functions, including liaising with sales reps and publishing.

 

Requirements:

  • Interest in book sales
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable working with numbers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and PowerPoint
