Penguin Random House is seeking a data-driven Sales Assistant to join the Random House Publishing Group Adult Sales team! Working closely with both the sales and publishing departments, this position provides a unique opportunity to observe the book-selling process in action. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and handle strict deadlines while remaining highly organized and communicating effectively.


Specifically, the Sales Assistant is responsible for:

 

  1. Compiling data from a variety of internal databases and running sales reports.
  2. Tracking and analyzing sales data.
  3. Communicating drop-ins, updates, and other information to Sales Reps.
  4. Assembling sales materials for both internal and external meetings.
  5. Providing general administrative support for the department such as scheduling meetings, answering phones.

 

Please apply if you meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months of prior office experience; publishing experience a plus
  • Interest in book publishing and sales
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to work comfortably with numbers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Proactive with strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
