The Penguin Random House Adult Sales Division is seeking a detail-oriented Sales Assistant to support the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group sales team. This position will provide you with an overview of how the entire sales process works within a publishing company, both for physical books and digital books.  In addition, you will learn much about the publishing process, attending marketing meetings and publisher planning meetings. This is a fabulous entry-level opportunity!


Specifically, the Sales Assistant:

  1. Tracks and analyzes sales data for physical books and eBooks across all accounts.
  2. Consolidates coop and account marketing plans.
  3. Assembles materials for marketing meetings.
  4. Prepares monthly sales report, consolidating trend information by account.
  5. Schedules meetings and coordinates travel.
  6. Ad hoc projects as necessary.

  • Strong interest in a sales position with a publishing company
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize projects
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables) and PowerPoint
