Sales Agent/Account Executive - Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau

The Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau is seeking a Sales Agent/Account Executive to join our team. The Speakers Bureau represents an unrivaled roster of speakers whose work is shaping national conversations. The division works to secure paid speaking engagements for authors at a variety of venues across the U.S. and throughout the world, including corporate conferences, literary series, universities, and libraries. 


This position provides tremendous growth potential and affords an opportunity to work with all of our publishing groups in our endeavor to generate engagements for our world-renowned speakers.  The Sales Agent/Account Executive will report to the Vice President, Executive Director of Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau. 


Duties include:

  • Seeking out new opportunities for speaker roster by consulting with a wide range of accounts, primarily in the corporate space.
  • Prospecting and cold-calling new venue clients to grow account base.
  • Working with divisional Agent Directors to maintain and strengthen account relationships.
  • Developing and maintaining strong knowledge of speaker roster.
  • Researching marketplace, competition, and trends in the lecture agency space.
  • Coordinating pitch materials with marketing team based on industry trends.
  • Liaising with industry colleagues for co-brokering opportunities.
  • Supporting the Vice President and marketing team in business development efforts including Company Reads initiative.
  • Maintaining comprehensive account follow-up calendar.
  • Updating account information in the department’s customer relationship management database.
  • Other project work as needed.



  • Minimum of 3 years of speaking industry and/or sales experience.
  • Proficiency in CRM database systems, Google Docs and MS Office, particularly MS Outlook and Excel.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment with impeccable interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Sales-savvy with a high level of comfortable cold-calling and a proactive and independent approach to work, including excellent research and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in book publishing is beneficial, but not required.
