Publicity Assistant - Random House Adult

We are currently seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Random House publicity department. Supporting the Assistant Director of Publicity for Harmony and Rodale and the Publicity Manager for Convergent/Forum on publicity campaigns for non-fiction hardcover and paperback titles, this position provides an intensive education in trade book publishing in a fast-paced, exciting, and highly collaborative environment.


Responsibilities include:


Assistance in carrying out high-impact publicity campaigns for non-fiction titles, notably in the health, wellness, business, faith/religion and political space. Tasks include writing pitch materials, pulling media lists, and researching media targets as well as:

  • Assisting senior publicity staff with high profile media campaigns for bestselling authors
  • Creating and managing author itineraries
  • Updating internal documents and systems
  • Liaising with media, booksellers, colleagues in-house, and authors
  • Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests
  • Organizing travel and hotel logistics for author tours and special events
  • Additional assignments, projects and responsibilities, as needed




The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment with excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Candidates should also be self-starters with exceptional writing skills, an impeccable attention to detail, and possess a proactive and independent approach to work.
  • Savvy with social media, internet research, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – familiarity with InDesign a plus
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • The ideal candidate will have some complementary internship or work experience
