Penguin Random House is seeking a Production Assistant for the Penguin Young Readers Group, Reprints. The Production Department is responsible for the manufacture of books. This includes the estimating, scheduling, order placement and the monitoring of the printing and binding of all the book’s components.

The Production Assistant is expected to manage reprints for Puffin, Penguin Books (YA), and Speak titles (paperback and hardcover novels), as well as slipcases for box sets pertaining to the listed imprints.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Review titles on weekly reprints agenda; create and track purchase orders
  2. Maintain and update a status report
  3. Enter/Maintain data in SAP
  4. Communicate with domestic vendors, Operations, Managing Editors, and Design on orders, schedules, and corrections
  5. Review finished product for quality
  6. Handle filing of finished book samples
  7. Perform administrative duties as assigned or required by division

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to handle many titles simultaneously
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Works well with numbers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Interest in Young Readers literature and book production
