Penguin Young Readers - Production Assistant

The Production Assistant provides general administrative support to the VP of Production for PYR, prepares departmental reports, coordinates with multiple departments, and assists subsidiary rights.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. General assistance for the VP which includes professional communications with in house staff, company business units and domestic and overseas vendors. Responsible for departmental and inter-departmental reporting. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, use of the historical database, ownership of the bi-weekly print agenda, attendance record keeping, and coordination of budget forecasting spreadsheets.
  2. Works with the subsidiary rights department to advise costs for obtaining files, places said orders when necessary and codes final invoices prior to approval. This involves knowledge of the SAP system.
  3. Investigates the clearing of any outstanding clerical queries.
  4. Performs general administrative tasks when necessary for the production department.
  5. Coordinates the conference room for various staff meetings.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Preferred Qualifications, if any:

  • Interest in Young Readers literature and book production
