Marketing Assistant – Dutton, Plume, Tiny Reparations Books

 

The Dutton, Plume, and newly launched Tiny Reparations Books imprints at Penguin Random House are seeking a Marketing Assistant to join our creative and innovative team! In this role, the Assistant will provide seasonal administrative support (managing sales requests, coordinating marketing meetings, writing sell sheets, and helping process invoices) and aid in the creation of social media posts, marketing materials, and advertising campaigns.

 

The ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a true passion for reading across genres (thriller, mystery, pop culture, literary fiction, commercial women’s fiction, LGBTQIA+, narrative nonfiction, etc.). Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating agendas and materials for marketing meetings, communicating with in-house departments (editorial, publicity, sales, etc.), and assisting with mailings or e-galley outreach as needed.
  2. Contributing and designing original content for the Dutton and Plume social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) and reporting on each platform’s individual analytics to draw conclusions and create new strategies for growth and engagement.
  3. Assisting with set-up and management of social media advertising (Facebook, Instagram, Google) by monitoring and adjusting innovative copy and design.
  4. Maintaining record keeping for assigned titles and sales reports.
  5. Assisting with the development of marketing plans for assigned titles by observing timelines, creating original content and visuals, promoting giveaways, and identifying and pursuing cross-promotional partnerships, with supervisor oversight.
  6. Providing general administrative support to the Director of Marketing by maintaining and scheduling calendar appointments, submitting expense reports, updating campaign details in internal databases, executing book mailings, etc.

  • Strong interest in marketing and book publishing
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, online marketing tools, and digital analytics a plus
