
Putnam is seeking a Marketing Assistant to assist the VP, Associate Publisher, Director of Marketing and Associate Director of Marketing, and the department as a whole.

The position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in a department that plans campaigns for bestselling fiction titles and works collaboratively across departments. We consult directly with authors and agents, coordinate internally with our editorial, sales, and publicity colleagues, and work creatively to present our books directly to consumers.
The Marketing Assistant will be part of the early campaign planning stages and will brainstorm creative promotions, prepare meeting documents and coordinate meetings, assist with mailings, research new promotional opportunities, provide social media support, and help traffic design and sales requests. In addition to providing administrative support, the assistant will regularly liaise with the sales team, editors, designers, publicists, and other marketers in order to facilitate the timely execution of marketing campaigns.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supports title-specific marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Updates, organizes and maintains internal marketing database systems.
- Performs consumer research and contributes to Putnam’s social media platforms, which include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Goodreads.
- Coordinates category specific promotions and sweepstakes.
- Coordinates materials in preparation for sales meetings.
- Assists with incoming requests from the Sales, Editorial, Managing Editorial, and Art departments
- Assembles reports to monitor sales and other metrics associated with marketing promotions.
- Provides general administrative support including scheduling appointments, mailings, coding invoices, etc.

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Canva, online marketing tools, advertising management platforms, and social media analytics is a plus
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities (approximately 2-3 days a week). We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, and NY).
The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
