The Penguin Random House Library Marketing department is seeking a highly organized and creative Marketing Assistant to join the team and work with titles in all formats across all of our adult imprints, as well as our children’s audio imprint. While performing a variety of tasks, this position allows the opportunity to learn about the entire process of marketing, specifically to libraries, including assisting with enewsletter creation and blog upkeep, creating printed and digital materials and assets, helping prepare for trade shows and events, and supporting the team in all marketing endeavors.
The Library Marketing Assistant should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and enjoy reading broadly and often. We seek an individual ready to partner with libraries and champion Penguin Random House books from day one while working alongside a fun and fast-paced team. The Assistant should be a detail-orientated self-starter, a strong written and verbal communicator, and an organized multitasker.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Assists with enewsletter creation, blog content, and blog upkeep
- Coordinates all department mailings and award submissions
- Participates in the planning and support of trade shows, events, and book buzzes
- Provides administrative support including creating PowerPoint presentations, Excel grids, handling book and supply orders, and weekly meeting agendas
- Maintains department email inbox
- Works on special projects as needed

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting in front of an audience
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team
- Proactive with strong follow-up skills
- Ability to travel domestically via car, train, or plane for three or more trade shows per year, as needed
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs of books and supplies
- Active working knowledge of social media and an interest in following book trends is a plus
- Knowledge of Canva is a plus but not a requirement
The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
This hybrid position requires working from the office two days per week. In-office responsibilities, include, but are not limited to, in-office meetings, author visits or events, and daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
