Director, Inclusive Marketing, Creative Strategy, Penguin Random House (Open to Remote)

The Creative Strategy team at Penguin Random House seeks a Director of Inclusive marketing to join an innovative group of marketers ranging from brand strategists and social media managers to event planners and partnership specialists, the Creative Strategy team is obsessed with how Penguin Random House shows up for our readers. By producing creative, best-in-class work across all marketing touchpoints, we connect people with the stories they’re looking for (and some they didn’t know they needed), inspiring a love of reading for generations to come.

The Creative Strategy Team seeks a passionate Director to lead the development and execute campaigns that speak to diverse audience segments. This marketer will partner with colleagues (at all levels) from across Penguin Random House to produce innovative, best-in-class work, to diversify the reader universe and invite more people to engage with our books.

 

The experienced director will be highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and enjoys reading broadly and often. We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who loves books of all types and is invested in the process of bringing them to a wide multicultural readership, has strong writing and analytical skills, communicates clearly, and wants to be an active participant in a collaborative team.

The Role:

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns with the goal of attracting new and diverse audiences into the Penguin Random House universe
  • Lead development and implementation of companywide Multicultural and Inclusive Marketing best practices
  • Use research, cultural insights, and data analytics to inspire innovative marketing solutions and creativity in partnership with key stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and Editorial
  • Track performance and ensure business growth among multicultural readers
  • Stay abreast of consumer behavior, cultural trends, and new platforms
  • Develop companywide resources (i.e. Multicultural Marketing Newsletter, Multicultural Marketing Immersions) to educate and enable marketers to effectively reach all readers  
  • Serve as a lead resource on the Multicultural Marketing Task Force and the Inclusive Marketing Forum to ensure that marketing campaigns and content are authentic, inclusive and represent the voice of the consumer.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to transcend the publishing industry and reinforce Penguin Random House’s position as a cultural powerhouse

 

The Essentials:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience identifying and developing audiences in the multicultural marketing space
  • Knowledge of the publishing industry and working directly with books, authors, and artists (preferred but not required to succeed in this role)
  • Experience creating and executing marketing campaigns
  • Experience using consumer and cultural insights in marketing strategies
  • Knowledge of key marketing concepts and tools
  • Knowledge of digital marketing analytics and data-driven marketing decision-making
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence peers to achieve common goals
  • Ability to work independently and with small teams
  • Ability to provide clear feedback with confidence and professionalism
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

 

The salary for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 - Candidates with a long history and proven track record of leading a corporate marketing team that specializes in targeting diverse and inclusive audiences, in addition to extensive DE&I strategy and leadership experience, will be eligible for a salary in the range of $110,000 - $130,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
