Random House is seeking a Designer to join their team. This individual will handle all aspects of book design for multiple imprints. This will in­clude editorial and author consultation, complete interior design, and all follow-through to bound book. This person will also hire illustrators, cartographers, etc., and negotiate contracts.

 

Requirements

  • The candidate must have five to ten years of previous interior book design experience, with the ability to handle a wide range of creative complexities, including illustrated and four-color books.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDe­sign.
  • Strong communication skills and the capability to juggle multiple projects at one time.
  • The ability to adapt to different environments and meet demanding dead­lines.
  • A strong knowledge of typography and design is required.
  • A knowledge of the overall production process is recommended.
