Associate Manager, Marketing - Zeitgeist


Penguin Random House is currently seeking a results-driven Associate Marketing Manager to join the Zeitgeist imprint. Zeitgeist is an innovative, data-driven team focused on creating a variety of practical non-fiction books based on consumer trends and data insights. This role will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of marketing for assigned titles, manage authors, collaborate across teams, and develop & execute marketing strategies and campaigns.


Recent titles published by Zeitgeist are: Guided Tarot, Would You Rather? Made You Think! Edition, Training for a Healthy Life, Love More, Fight Less, Preteen Devotional for Girls and Anxiety Relief for Teens


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Create, implement, and analyze creative marketing campaigns in conjunction with the marketing team and work independently to execute plans.
  2. Advise and partner with authors to develop their social media and digital platform strategy around a book’s release, including content creation, messaging, influencer outreach and audience activation.
  3. Identify and conduct outreach to potential publicity partners (influencers, podcasts, editorial outlets, brands, networks, organizations, etc.)
  4. Generate and execute strategies to support new releases as well as backlist titles to drive sales, consumer reviews and create discovery around a title.
  5. Write marketing copy and create creative briefs for marketing campaigns, social-media posts, landing pages or product detail pages.

Collaborate with the larger team to constantly refine, gain insights, and improve overall marketing strategy.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-4 years experience.
  • Experience in client management and an interest in building meaningful relationships and partnerships.
  • Proven experience developing and managing social media marketing campaigns as well as media buying.
  • Working knowledge of content strategy, organic and paid social media, email, and influencer marketing.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to network.
  • Strong and creative written skills to develop marketing copy.
  • Ability to work independently utilizing effective time management skills.
  • A leader and self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-faced start-up environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Affiliate platforms, email marketing, Amazon, and MS Excel.
  • Data-Driven: Experience in using data to make informed decisions, tracking performance and KPIs, updating reports/spreadsheets, and analyzing basic data sets.
