Job Description
The Random House Publishing Group is a division of Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade book publisher, dedicated to publishing the best in fiction and nonfiction for readers of all ages and interests. We are seeking a highly organized, collaborative Associate Manager to join our Consumer Engagement team, reporting to the divisional Social Media Manager. This role will manage our email newsletter programs, support website operations, and collaborate across the division to help connect readers with our books, authors, and brands.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor who is both creative and analytical. They are detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple projects, and interested in finding new ways to reach and engage readers across email, web, and social media.
The Role:
- Project manage email newsletters from start to finish, including content planning, email builds, testing, deployment, and deadlines across multiple programs.
- Manage email calendars and coordinate content, assets, and approvals across marketing teams.
- Analyze newsletter performance and recommend ways to improve engagement and grow our audiences.
- Provide guidance, best practices, and quality assurance for email programs managed by individual imprints and marketing teams.
- Serve as the divisional point person for website and CMS questions, including managing user access, troubleshooting issues, and working with corporate teams as needed.
- Partner with the divisional Social Media Manager on content planning and opportunities across email, web, and social media.
- Look for new ways to improve our email and digital programs based on results, reader interests, and industry trends.
- Use project-management tools to keep projects, deadlines, and assets organized and on track.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of related experience in email marketing, digital marketing, or a related field.
- Hands-on email marketing experience, including building, testing, deploying, and reporting on campaigns.
- Strong copywriting, editing, proofreading, and editorial judgment.
- Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
- Comfortable working with performance data and using results to improve future campaigns.
- Curious, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a strong problem solver.
- Familiarity with social media and an understanding of how email, web, and social can work together.
- Experience with Iterable or a similar email platform, WordPress or another CMS, and Monday.com or a similar project-management tool.
- Working knowledge of HTML and proficiency with Excel.
- Interest in book publishing and connecting books with readers.
Additional Information
The Penguin Random House national headquarters is located in New York City. This is a hybrid position that requires occasional in-office attendance for scheduled meetings, typically once or twice per month. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of our New York City office at 1745 Broadway, including the tri-state area (New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania).
The salary for this position is $70,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
