
We are currently seeking an Associate, Social Media (Young Readers & Brand/Licensed) to create and publish engaging, shareable, social-first content for Random House Children’s Books’ young reader vertical, @randomhousekids.
This role offers the opportunity to help shape social content strategy for the world’s largest children’s book publisher and will also collaborate on campaigns for bestselling and beloved brands such as Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, Dr. Seuss, and Little Golden Books, as well as licensed properties including Disney, Sesame Street, and National Geographic Kids.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day community engagement across social platforms, responding to comments and messages in a timely, brand-appropriate voice while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and consistency.
- Proactively engage with audiences through comments, direct messages, and outreach opportunities to deepen relationships and grow community presence. Exercise strong judgment around brand voice, audience sensitivity, and platform dynamics.
- Manage content scheduling and publishing across platforms, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with content plans.
- Write clear, compelling, and platform-native copy for social content across channels, and create social-first static and video content using tools such as Canva, CapCut, Edits, and other mobile-first editing platforms. Occasionally appear in or support on-camera content creation for social channels.
- Partner with the RHCB creative team to concept and develop social assets for @randomhousekids and brand accounts, ensuring all content aligns with platform best practices and maintains consistent brand identity.
- Plan, design, and publish Instagram Stories on a regular basis, with a strong focus on visual storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.
- Support the Senior Manager, Social Media (Young Readers and Brand & Licensed) in managing content creation partners and in-office production, contributing to creative direction and helping shape the overall visual and editorial voice of @randomhousekids.
- Assist with social analytics by pulling performance data, building reports, and identifying actionable insights to inform future content and strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Editorial, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales, responding to internal requests and ensuring social support aligns with broader campaign goals.
- Coordinate logistics for in-office content shoots, including sourcing books and props, packing and shipping supplies for events and shows, and in-office prep for influencer events
- Manage outbound shipments to influencers, partners, vendors, and giveaway recipients.
- Support influencer and creator initiatives by maintaining databases, assisting with outreach, and tracking performance of influencer content and campaigns.

- Minimum 1 year of experience in social media, community management, or digital content creation in a corporate setting
- Strong understanding of current social media platforms and best practices, including Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook, and YouTube
- Hands-on experience creating social content using tools such as Canva and mobile video editing apps such as CapCut and Edits
- Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting; experience with Sprout Social is a plus
- Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice across brands and audiences
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and cross-functionally
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within Excel grids, managing and organizing information with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
- Deep familiarity with internet culture, trends, and emerging platforms, and an instinct for what resonates with online audiences
- Comfortable being on camera on occasion
The salary for this position is $56,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
This is a hybrid position (2x per week) with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
