Associate, Ebook Production

We have an opportunity for a full-time Ebook Production Associate at Penguin Random House. This role on the Ebook Operations and Development team will convert titles into electronic formats, distribute the electronic books (Ebooks) to retailers and maintain these products once they are in market.  This opening is a great opportunity to learn about the production of Ebooks as part of a fun, energetic team working in a high-paced, rapidly changing environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform frontlist Ebook conversions for files according to instructions from publishing division
  • Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues that appear with Ebook files in market and update existing titles per divisional request
  • Trafficking conversions and updates through review and distribution
  • Prepare files and physical materials for delivery to third party vendor according to current specifications and complete initial QC check on returned materials
  • Updating departmental databases with current information on Ebook production status
  • Serve as communication point person for assigned divisional imprints
  • Participate in discussions at team and working group meetings
  • Assist with beta testing tools and tool updates

 

Requirements

  • At least 1-year experience editing documents in InDesign
  • Experience in digital publishing or interior book design
  • Ebook production a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience with EPUB, HTML, CSS, XML or Photoshop a plus
  • Operating proficiency in MAC platform
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Capacity to manage time effectively amid changing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of teamwork
