The Marketing department is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and organized Assistant Marketing Manager to create and implement marketing plans and promotional materials for a varied list of nonfiction titles. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with a strong interest in current events who would be excited to be at the forefront of the changing landscape of business, work, and politics.


Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Working with the Vice President, Marketing Director and other team members to brainstorm and execute customized promotions for individual books.
  2. Consulting and coordinating with authors, editors and publicists on marketing plans and preorder campaigns.
  3. Drafting and designing print and digital ads, especially sponsored social media posts.
  4. Tracking social media campaigns for books, evaluating results, and suggesting changes to messaging and targeting to improve future results.
  5. Writing, designing, routing, and managing schedules for printed promotional materials, including sell sheets, postcards, bookmarks, gift boxes, etc.
  6. Training, advising, and mentoring department assistants.

  • A minimum of 3 years of marketing experience; book publishing experience strongly preferred
  • Genuine interest in nonfiction publishing, especially in business, politics, current events, history and psychology categories
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very strong organizational skills and superb attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, manage time effectively, and keep projects moving independently
  • Proficiency with both Mac OS and Windows
  • Experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Experience running paid promotions on Facebook Ads Manager, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Search and Google Display
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite and video editing software is a plus.
