The Marketing department develops and implements creative marketing campaigns including advertising, social media, and bookstore displays. Marketers work closely with sales to learn what’s happening in the market and, to help them promote and share their enthusiasm about books and writers.

 

Divisions/ Departments

The Publishing divisions/ departments seeking an intern may include:

Random House, Crown, Storehouse Voices, Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, Audio, Penguin Backlist, Ten Speed Press, Avery Tarcher and Portfolio. 

Some responsibilities within these divisions/ departments may include: 

  • Researching new media contacts, influencer, and brand partnerships for title marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborating with the team to create content for author and imprint social media platforms.
  • Assisting in marketing book mailings.
  • Attending team meetings to help brainstorm promotional opportunities for titles.

 

We are also looking for interns to work within our Sales groups, specifically focusing on Specialty Retail and Direct Sales Marketing, Sales Library Marketing, International Sales Marketing and Consumer Marketing. 

Some responsibilities within these divisions/ departments may include:

  • Account information management, site research and maintenance
  • Creating postings and title lists for the retail sites and customers
  • Drafting newsletters, email campaigns, social media content

 

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DETAILS

Penguin Random House offers an immersive 20-week PAID, REMOTE internship opportunity in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, available in our adult, children’s, and corporate divisions. Our interns are also exposed to the publishing process and our business through panels, networking events, and a mentoring program!

 

Your major doesn’t matter—we’re looking for curiosity, initiative, and a passion for books.

Program Dates: September 14th, 2026 – November 20th, 2026 AND January 18th, 2027 – March 26th, 2027

 

 

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

  • Available 21 hours/week for both sessions
  • Ready to work full-time by June 2027 (no degree required)
  • U.S. resident during the program
  • 18+ years old

Pay: $21/hour
