Associate, Client Sales - (Hybrid)
Penguin Random House Publisher Services, a division of Penguin Random House dedicated to providing the highest level of sales and distribution to a variety of independent publishers, is seeking a highly organized sales associate to support the Client Sales team that works with publishers in the comic book, graphic novel, and manga categories.
The sales associate will be working with publishers of comic books and graphic novels, the Direct Market sales teams that sell to the comics marketplace, and internal operations and fulfillment teams.
This role offers an opportunity to learn about comics and publishing in a fast-paced environment while getting an insider’s view of the process that brings comic books and graphic novels to retailers. The candidate should be detail-oriented with strong follow-through, adaptable to working with multiple teams, and adept at juggling multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with publishers to address questions and requests and share publisher announcements and sales and marketing updates with Direct Market sales teams
- Provide weekly reports to identify sales priorities and track critical deadlines and incoming inventory
- Conduct and support metadata sweeps to ensure materials are accurate and delivered in a timely manner
- Manage and communicate drop-in titles and metadata changes to sales reps
- Host monthly publisher presentations to Direct Market sales teams and provide wrap-up notes
- Maintain and develop new reference documentation as sales processes and standards evolve
- Assist sales managers and sales directors with day-to-day work and additional ad-hoc projects
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience working for a graphic novel, comics, or manga publisher preferred
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects with outstanding prioritization and follow-through
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Self-starter with enthusiasm and ability to take initiative, and confidence to build and maintain relationships with key contacts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an avid interest and ability to learn new applications
- Knowledge and passion for comics, graphic novel, and manga category is desirable
This is a Hybrid role. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
The salary for this position is $56,000.00 All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
