Publishing Assistant, Random House Children's Books

Random House Children’s Books has an exciting opportunity for you to join their team as a Publishing Assistant! In this role, you will provide day-to-day administrative support to both the Publisher and the Senior Director of Publishing. You will also participate in activities that support the overall publishing initiatives of the department, which includes workbooks and activity books, non-fiction study guides and reference titles, Learn to Read books, and other fun educational titles.


In this role you will:

  1. Provide administrative support to two managers, including schedule management, setting up meetings, arranging travel, ordering office supplies, and other related tasks.
  2. Take meeting notes, send out recaps, and maintain project statuses.
  3. Running basic reports and preparing presentations.
  4. Facilitating communication and planning between our department and outside partners.
  5. Assisting with metadata and web copy.
  6. Writing TI sheets and flap copy.
  7. Conduct research of online display and merchandising to ensure we are keeping with best practices.
  8. Maintain monthly grid of titles for AMS marketing campaigns.
  9. Act as a liaison with marketing, sales and other departments to provide requested materials.
  10. Maintain in-office library of current and backlist titles, as well as competitive library.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
