Production Coordinator/Associate Production Manager - Penguin Publishing Group

We are seeking either a Production Coordinator or an Associate Production Manager to work within our Penguin Publishing Group. In this role, you will work with Production Directors on a list consisting of paperback conversions from hardcover, trade originals and hardcover originals. You will play an important part in ensuring that books are produced within budget, delivered on time, and are of the highest quality.


Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Consulting with the Managing Editorial, Production Editorial, and Art and Design to develop the specifications and schedules for individual titles.
  2. Creating estimates and P&L statements.
  3. Issuing purchase orders for each assigned title and approving necessary costs and invoices.
  4. Collaborating closely with vendors, including compositors, component printers and printer/binderies, which includes troubleshooting, scheduling and deliverables.
  5. Trafficking materials and proof passes internally as well with outside vendors
  6. Ensuring quality benchmarks are maintained


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of trade publishing experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of trade paperback production experience to be considered at the Associate Production Manager level
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline driven environment
  • Good estimating skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of SAP, FileMaker Pro, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Photoshop a plus
