Production Coordinator - Penguin Publishing Group

We are looking for a Production Coordinator to support the reprint production department that works on distinguished titles for the Penguin Publishing Group. In this role, you will be responsible for book production of complex 1/color and 4/color projects of various imprints as well as administrative support for the team. Facilitating reprint orders from start to finish across commercial fiction and nonfiction categories, you will gain a full view of the publishing process and have the opportunity to work on many exciting and well-known frontlist authors such as Lisa Gardner, Hank Green, Riley Sager, and Tami Hoag.


Specifically, the Production Coordinator:

  1. Handles all aspects of production including, but not limited to, facilitating text and cover changes, maintaining schedules and tracking the progress of titles through production, using internal system reporting, estimating, scheduling, and all vendor contact.
  2. Maintains accurate specifications in SAP.
  3. Creates and issues purchase orders to component printers and binderies.
  4. Checks vendor invoices and ensures quote to billing match.
  5. Responsible for quality control checks on reprints.
  6. Provides administrative support to the supervisor including up keeping various reports, routing cover materials, and pre-flighting printer ready cover files.

  • Minimum of 1 year of book production, managing editorial, or related experience
  • Superb communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate well with others
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong arithmetic skills including the ability to work comfortably with numbers  
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and File Maker Pro a plus
  • Comfortable using Mac operating systems a plus
