Financial Analyst, Little Tiger

Random House Children’s Books is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team! Working on the Little Tiger business, this position will assist with the timely and accurate compilation and distribution of the annual budgets, quarterly re-forecasts, and monthly actual reporting.

 

In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking
  2. Analyze financial data and create models for decision making
  3. Create reports on financial performance for monthly leadership reviews
  4. Analyze past results and perform variance analysis and make improvement recommendations
  5. Work closely with accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
  6. Work closely with production departments on estimating and printer selections
  7. Evaluate financial performance by comparing and assessing actual results with plans

  • 4 year college degree in business, preferably in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior financial or accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including vlookups and pivot tables)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access & SAP strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion, Business Objects, and SQL strongly preferred
  • Prior work experiences within book publishing or media is a plus
