We at Ten speed are excited to offer a six-month fellowship in the design department for recent design graduates.

Qualified candidates must be creative, collaborative designers with an interest in illustrated book publishing and an affinity for cooking, art/design, gift, and humor. We require outstanding organizational and communication abilities, eager to work as part of a team, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

 

Design role

  • Create one-off book and cover designs, from concept to print-ready files.
  • Learn to work within established budget and guidelines.
  • Execute design concepts generated by others.
  • Create Indesign templates based on your designs.
  • Implement editorial text corrections to interior book pages.
  • Assist with design and correction of eBooks, enhanced eBooks, and eBook originals.
  • Design print and online ads, catalog materials, posters, dummy books, and other marketing materials.
  • Research stock illustrations and photographs for use in books or on book covers.
  • Color correct and proof digital photography using color calibrated monitor and printer.
  • Maintain schedules and meets deadlines on assigned projects.

 

The position will be for  6 months, working 28 hours a week, at $17.50 per hour; no benefits.
