Do you have direct project & programme experience of large business-change, data and IT-focussed projects?

If so then this could be the perfect next step for you.

Penguin Random House is currently undergoing the third phase of its major transformation programme to align the systems and processes post-merger.

This position is a crucial part of the team ensuring this truly transformative programme is running smoothly and in a controlled manner. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced new team member to build on their knowledge and continue to grow in a significant transformational environment.

You will be keeping a close view on the integrity of the design and build outputs of the programme as well as providing and ensuring appropriate scrutiny of progress, dependencies and risk management.

On a day to day basis you’ll be responsible for the comprehensiveness, accuracy and integrity of our key Design information repositories – our portfolio of requirements capture and delivery registers.

Balancing this with the management of our governance (Phase 3 PMO function) so that there is strong governance, assurance and control and this is done in line with wider PMO delivery.

You will support the work-streams, stages and leadership of the team with the demand management process, resource management, monitoring risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, programme plan upkeep, stage gating of the programme, change control and materials required for Steering Group engagement.

You will need:

  • An ability to lead and direct a project team within a wider large-scale programme

  • Excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise and proactively manage workloads

  • Understanding of large technology and process change programmes and ability to build credible and robust relationships with colleagues working in that environment

  • Familiarity with standard Programme and Project Management concepts ( MSP and Prince 2 methodologies), processes and ability to flex these to best organisational use as well as be comfortable with governance and the pragmatic application

  • Experience acting as Quality Assurance for key programme repositories such as registers and logs

  • Direct project & programme experience of large business-change, data and IT-focussed projects

  • Be able to demonstrate experience in project reporting, risks and issue reporting, dependency management, financial tracking and working with senior stakeholders to director level

  • Excellent communication skills – whether that be influencing up where needed, or an ability to bring the Registers to life and ensure that progress reports can be understood across teams

  • Confident Excel skills and experience using SharePoint for list and data management
