Workspace Delivery Specialist, Operational Services

We’re looking for a Workspace Delivery Specialist to join the Technology team at Penguin Random House, based at our London office.


You will, form part of the Workspace Services team. The team are responsible for providing technical support to our End User Computing (EUC) team. The Workspaces Services team also define the strategy and direction the business is moving in with regards to end user applications and devices. Amongst other key services, the team are senior technical resources for SCCM, JAMF, Exchange (soon to be O365) and File Shares.


Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:

  • Assist with design and development of the PC estate to align with business requirements
  • Manage SCCM as PRH’s choice of PC system management tool
  • Manage packaging, updates and deployments of software through SCCM
  • Promote the use of SCCM self-service as an aid to the end user
  • Ensuring SCCM packages are continually updated and improved
  • Required - experience with messaging platforms - Microsoft Exchange 2010-2016, Office365, Mimecast & GSuite
  • Experience with Enterprise level migrations from Exchange 2010 to Exchange Online and Office 365 desirable.
  • Some technical knowledge of email authentication mechanisms – SPF, DKIM & DMARC.
  • Experience with Powershell
  • Demonstrable technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting complex systems.
  • Detailed understanding of Windows share permissions & access based enumeration.
  • Work closely with security policies and suggest improvements where appropriate.
  • Experience working with Active Directory and Group Policy

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Provide on-going support for all end user services, including desktops, laptops, MACs, printers and associated servers at a “3rd line” level.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests in a timely manner, in accordance with SLA’s.
  • Liaise with third party companies who are contracted to provide services to business.
  • Respond and act upon system alerts as appropriate.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to operational and service issues with a focus on prevention rather than fix.
  • Collaborate with all technology team members in order to deliver consistent service delivery across all UK locations, ensuring incidents are resolved and root causes are addressed.
  • To offer appropriate user education on an individual basis as required.
  • As required provide out of hours working and/or on-call support.
  • Be approachable to users at all levels of the business to help maintain the excellent reputation of the team.
  • Have the ability to deputise for the Workspace Services Manager as on site resource in the event of a major incident.

You will also need:

  • Adhere to Technology policies, specifically technology usage, security and change management.
  • To keep abreast of current technology and trends that may be of use/benefit to Penguin Random House.
  • Develop your own training skills and IT knowledge to match needs of company.
