Software Trainer (Publishing Systems), Technology

We are currently undertaking the third phase of a major transformation programme (Our Programme) to align the processes and systems we use to publish Penguin Random House books and products. We are looking for a Publishing Systems Trainer to join a growing Business Change and Training team in an FTC role until June 2020.


Working proactively with representatives from the programme and our business you will be responsible for gaining a full understanding of our business processes and system design and translating this into quality and impactful training material.


Partnered with experts from our business you will lead delivery of classroom training and provide hands-on support to users at go-live.


Reporting directly to the Our Programme Training Manager you will be responsible for:


  • Defining training course outlines and scenarios, gaining  appropriate sign-off  
  • Developing training products and content, including e-learning, to agreed quality, deadlines and sign-off process
  • Delivering end user training and ensuring training data is available to support your delivery
  • Preparing nominated business trainers and super users to ensure they have the knowledge and skill to support your training delivery  
  • Proactively reporting progress and escalating any risks, issues, or dependencies that will impact your delivery
  • Providing post go-live support to our end user community
  • Supporting the delivery of all aspects the training plan as requested by the Training Manager or Business Change and Training Lead


To be successful in this role you will need:


  • Minimum 2+ years in systems training development and delivery
  • Knowledge of Biblio, other publishing systems software or the ability and desire to quickly learn new systems
  • Experience of systems training environments and training data management 
  • Competent and knowledgeable across a range of learning methodologies, and styles
  • Ability to quickly assimilate complex information and use judgement to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Confidence in working  with ambiguity and using judgement to drive forward deliverables
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with a range of stakeholders 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and work to tight deadlines 
  • Advanced MS Office Skills and knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Also desirable:


  • Ability to create online learning using Captivate
  • Recognised Learning and Development qualification (CIPD / TAP)
